BOTHERED

Hi there…Happy Saturday.

I find myself bothered this week by a trend I have been seeing in both politics and YouTube videos. Yes, it isn’t new, and maybe it has something to do with the particular videos I have been watching (my bad). It bothers me nonetheless (who even uses “nonetheless” anymore).

I have seen a constant barrage of hate, anger, judgement, and disparagement of others…maybe because I watched the Republican National Convention this week, hmmm? I partly blame the “media” for what they purposely choose to present to the public, but why do they choose only negative issues to present? You would think that there were no positive stories anywhere in the world.

Of course, since money is the ONLY driving factor in business, then they choose whatever sells to the public, which happens to be lots of violence. The public seems to really like fighting because of its sensationalism. This is even more worrying. Why does the public want to concentrate on death, anger, and struggle? Maybe because people are angry, frustrated, and desperate for anything to deflect their attention from their own problems? This is enough to bother anyone who gives a moment’s thought to what is going on.

I am also finding that many of the YouTube videos that gain the most views include those which make fun of other YouTube video creators, demean them, and point out the (perceived) stupidity in them. The inspirational ones are not nearly so popular because they are not as sensationalistic. OK, I said this was not a new phenomenon. It has been happening for a long time. Maybe that is ONE reason why our society remains filled with violence…don’t you think, maybe?

Whatever we all focus our attention on, feeds into the collective subconscious, and affects the mood of those around us, the country, and the world. This constant focus on negativity makes it truly difficult on those who wish to encourage peace, love, and the celebration of our beautiful diversity, to make the world a better place. As we have just entered the Aquarian age, a time when all humanity will eventually come together in peace and harmony, we see increased resistance to the change. I have a feeling it will get a lot worse before it gets better. Change never comes easy, even when it is change for the benefit of everyone.

Well…here’s to hoping for more positive vibes! But I remain bothered…for now…

A Message to Fundamentalist Christian Conservative Racist Sexist Homophobic Murderous Bastards

There has, most definitely, been, and still IS, a problem of racism (and other ‘isms) which pervades every facet of our society. I had not realized just how much racism and hate still existed until all the publicized police shootings, and associated rallies by hate groups, such as the KKK. I am beginning to see that it is much greater than the “news media” has been portraying to us for a very long time. It is one thing for citizens to privately harbor racist (and other hateful) beliefs, and keep their opinions to themselves.   It is another thing when it affects others negatively, such as causing the deaths of innocent citizens. It is unfortunate that some people continue to hate their own brothers and sisters, BUT in order to have freedom of thought and speech for all, they must be allowed to hold whatever beliefs, even hateful ones, they choose to hold. Other than educating younger generations to be tolerant, and see all people equally, I know of no way to change the racist (and other hateful) views of those who hold them. People are simply going to believe whatever the fuck they choose to believe.

Racism in our societies institutions, however, particularly our police forces at this time, IS something that can be changed, desperately needs to change, and needs to change yesterday!

I do not personally have many specific answers, but I support equality, and I support change. There ARE people and politicians who DO have some answers. What I want to address here today, is an issue whose history and current reality I can understand, but whose ideological basis, and the blind adherence to this basis is something I simply cannot fathom. I am specifically referring to the fundamentalist Christian religion, out of which so many of our racist, sexist, and anti-LGBT conservative politicians have come, and there still remain. How can the fundamentalist Christian religion have failed so miserably at teaching the true messages of Christ, especially when the main principles of LOVE are presented in the Bible SO literally, with no room for misinterpretation? This I cannot fathom.

Must I again remind Christians of the Greatest of the laws of God, those of loving the Lord your God with all your heart and soul, and loving your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37-40, Mark 12:29-31)? If you were loving your Black and LGBT brothers and sisters as though they were YOU, you could not possibly spew the hateful thoughts that self-identified, fundamentalist Christian conservative politicians have been publically vomiting on the nation. If that is not clear enough for you, how about Jesus’ command to love even your enemies (Matthew 5:43-48, Luke 6:27-36)? How much more literal and clear do you need it to be to see just how hatefully wrong your thought processes have become?! As you judge these fellow human beings, you shall equally be judged, and that judgment shall be every bit as harsh as your own judgments (Matthew 7:1-5, Luke 6:37-38). If you actually consider Blacks, LGBT folks, and others to be your enemies, then how is it loving towards them to murder them in cold blood? How can you continue to support the terrible crimes that are occurring, and actually support the murder of unarmed citizens by beatings and shootings, and the choking out of life, even in some cases where they are already confined to jail, or are offering NO resistance other than to beg for their lives? How ANY Christian could possibly think that just because the Bible (Old Testament) condemns certain things, that it is OK to lynch, beat, and otherwise murder human beings who you are commanded to love, and whose “sin” (according to those “Old” Testament scriptures) is one of those which was condemned? How does the condemnation of certain ACTS give you the “New” Testament right to execute PEOPLE, “human beings”, whose very inner nature, created By God, just happens to associate them with “sins” condemned by the Old Testament? Blacks are never condemned in the Bible, but that does not stop the supposedly “Christian” white supremacists from killing them, or supporting others, like racist police officers, to do the killing. I just don’t get how people brought up on the Bible in Christian churches can justify such beliefs and actions.  They are most definitely “sick” and in dire need of a “doctor” (Mark 2:17).

There are SO many theological reasons why this hate-filled interpretation is FULL of error and evil. I simply do not have the time, or energy to address them in detail. It is a great error to attempt to interpret MOST of the scriptures “literally” because their writers never meant for them to be taken that way at all! Jesus was a reformer. He made every attempt to CHANGE peoples’ views of the “Law” to something new, better, and more loving, and yet balance those attempts with wisdom and care not to incur the wrath of the religious authorities too much until the appointed time for his public execution by those same religious authorities! We have the same situation today, where fundamentalist Christian authorities are using “strict” interpretation to denounce certain categories of humans, and are totally ignoring the “spirit of the law” that Jesus tried his best to convey in his short lifetime.  They CLAIM to be Christians, but their “frothing at the mouth” behaviors to see human beings killed is more in line with Satanic doctrines!  They practice the exact opposite of what they preach.

They are also ignoring the fact that Paul wrote about some things being sinful for one person, but not for another by using the example of meat sacrificed to idols (1 Corinthians 10:27-29).  The lesson being taught is one of Christian “freedom” which also applies to other (Old Testament) laws as well.  As the planet continues to evolve (by God’s design, and scientific support), and human spiritual understanding evolves to higher levels, the letter of the Law actually changes with the times, cultures and with societies (Oh, I’m goin’ to get a lot of flack for that one). If our civil authorities (which Jesus “clearly” stated we are to OBEY, 1 Peter 2:13-17, Matthew 22:17-21, Mark 12:14-17) have decided that Blacks are equal to Whites, and LGBT people are free to get married, women are equal to men, etc…then their decisions should have the weight of God’s authority and scripture to Christians. It is always permitted to disagree, and attempt to change our leaders’ views, but while the rulings stand, we are commanded to respect and obey them (unless they are SO obviously wrong that one has to resort to civil disobedience to keep from doing what is evil, like killing innocent people). So, you supposedly Christian conservatives…quit harming and killing anyone!!!!! Stop ALL evil wars (and they ALL are evil), fix the police system, and quit using your false religious views from harming ANY human being!

If you truly had any fricken’ idea what and who God really IS, you would instantly understand how evil and wrong your interpretations of scripture ARE!! Grow up and join the rest of enlightened humanity whose views are putting your barbaric and ancient ones to shame. It should not be this hard for you to understand that killing ANY human being is wrong, and NOT God’s plan, ever since Jesus instituted mercy, love, and forgiveness over the stark letter of the outdated Old Testament Law. Those laws were there, FOR THE TIME AND CULTURE FOR WHICH THEY WERE WRITTEN, to teach some sense of right and wrong to THAT society.  The principle of Christian freedom teaches us that once the Law is written on our hearts, there is no longer a need for the written law (that’s taught in both the Old and New Testament, Jeremiah 31:31-34, Hebrews 10:14-18), and the NEW law is the law of Love, not murder.

How much more plainly and literally could the scriptures, and my post, be? STOP YOUR EVIL HATRED OF HUMANS! Give it up! It violates the will of God, and you are guilty of SIN. You are the ones that need to learn your lessons in Spirituality and Godliness, because the progressive Christian elements have got it right, and are trying to show you the way. But you, just like the ancient Jews, are stubborn and stiff-necked, and will probably take your hate with you to your graves. It is a good thing that your idea of hell is a fairy tale, concocted by “political humans” to control the masses by fear, and was never taught by God. Otherwise, if I still believed the lies, I would tell you all to go to hell! But I say this with love for you (believe it, or not), and the hope that, in your lifetime, you will come to know the great love of your Father. Once that happens, all hatred of others will become the most repugnant thing to you, and you will realize your error, and join with all the Christians who have continued to grow, evolve, and progress towards the perfection taught by Paul the Apostle (Philippians 1:6). You will leave your “Dark Ages” mentality, and join the human society of the 21st century.

This all gives a clear example of the relationship between conservative and reactionary thinking. Stop holding on to the violent PAST. The new age of Aquarian Peace and Unity is dawning upon us. Open your eyes and ears to its light and music!!!

I Feel a HUGE Rant Coming On

My spirit dies in tiny slices of desiccated hopes,
Tidbits rendered lifeless by unwelcomed solitude,
I brag of my uniqueness and self-sufficiency,
Spouting the value of freedom from bonds,
All the while suffering dreams of rescue,
While having long ago abandoned all hope of Joy.

This is what we have done to each other,
Created a sham world of superficial relationships,
False outward expressions of outrage, unrest and angst,
Concealing only a dark, silent base of long-dead emotion,
The happy, positive mask of bravado, required of us,
Substituting for the conspicuous absence of loving fulfillment…

Shame to human society, whose watchwords are aggression, competition, striving, clawing, forcing, power, fame, kill-or-be-killed. Still, after millennia, the self-serving survival instinct still dominates. We know better, we can envision a world entirely different, we have the means to change – yet we remain as we are. We have abandoned the highest humanity for a pale substitute, each to their own devices, on your own, winner take all – all of what? All of nothing is nothing. What is left when there is no true passion or enjoyment in life, only a false facade of pretended happiness, satisfaction and success. We have created an environment where expressing one’s true pain only leads to ridicule. Where cries of hurt shared, with the hope of meeting compassion and love, bring only accusations of weakness and failure, branding you an outcast, and one to be shunned, isolated and shut away, even attacked. How will this end? Will there be an end of suffering, some unexpected reprieve from the isolated loneliness, or just a long, slow wasting away until death finally ends it? I don’t know. Maybe I will add new verses some day. For now, this is as far as I can see.  Will it end well for humanity?

MY DIRE-Y BLOG, 04/19/2015, Spiritual Beliefs and Persecution

I have written a possible future blog which contains an outline of certain spiritual beliefs I currently hold to be true. I have been contemplating putting myself out their by publishing them in a blog. However, I have been thinking about the possible repercussions of such action, and the modern persecution which exists in America. Oh, yes, such persecution does exist today, even in a country founded on freedom of religion. Yes, we are free to follow our own religion, and others (due to freedom of speech) are just as free to bombard you with criticism, hate email, their “opinion”, etc (even in defiance of law sometimes).  Sometimes modern persecution (not necessarily religious) has taken on the form of physical violence, even recently.  Possibly a better word might be retribution, or vengeance, rather than persecution, but the violent results can be identical in either case.

I do agree that there are some areas of this society which exhibit an imbalance, and call for the force of public opinion and protest, to lead to the correction of that imbalance. One recent example is the manner in which certain of our police forces have treated (and still do treat) minorities, and the poor. In cases like that, I can see a need for public outcry to bring about a correction to such imbalance for the good of all humanity.

Another example, however, which has been on my mind lately is how the extreme religious right has been attempting to push its agenda on everyone, especially on our government, where it has no business sticking its nose. I know they view such “evangelism” as part of their religious responsibility, but that is where THEIR nose comes face to face with the noses of us ALL. There is a good reason the founding fathers attempted to make sure that religious beliefs were kept OUT of the business of governing the nation. The main reason, of course, is to make sure that religious persecution never again became a legislated part of a country founded on religious freedom!

Anyway, people sometimes take matters into their own hands, even to the point of committing criminal acts in the heat of the moment. I am not sure I am quite ready to allow myself to become an object of criticism or ridicule just yet. I don’t really think I would draw the threat of violence down upon myself, but you never know. Because Christian fundamentalism is very strong just now, I am pretty sure to draw at least some criticism for my current beliefs. I say “current”, because they have slowly, and continually evolved over the course of my life, but changing only as the result of much contemplation, prayer, and testing. Therefore, nobody is likely to easily talk me into changing them.

One part of my beliefs that I WILL put out there is my complete religious tolerance for others. Yes, even as strange as it may sound, I can completely accept ANY other person as a Divine, and valuable human being, regardless of religious beliefs. That would even include such extreme views as those held by satanists, or the Tea Party (I do NOT subscribe to either!). The reason I can do this is because I believe God is always in COMPLETE control of EVERYTHING. So, if God wants a person to hold certain beliefs in this incarnation, and time, then who am I to presume on God’s Will? If it is good enough for God, it is good enough for me, and I will leave well enough alone. You might say, “Well, if God made me such that I feel a need to actively fight against certain beliefs, then does that not mean that God’s Will is for me to think, and do, just that”? To which I would answer, “certainly”. I also accept even that. MY purpose, at this time, (I believe) is to have complete religious tolerance for others; I do not expect the same from everyone, but at the same time, I will also gravitate toward others who share a similar world view as mine. Another piece of this is my belief that God is perfecting ALL souls, and that in the end, there will be perfect, conscious Unity between God and ALL of His Glory, the Universe. So people, in my view, are exactly where they need to be at this time, in order for their souls to ultimately and consciously become One with God. I think God is capable of carrying this out without me trying to interfere. Some people were destined to be activists for this or that cause. I am not one, and have talents and gifts in other areas. We need activists to address issues which need correcting, and we also need others whose gifts of empathy, sympathy, and healing are just as necessary to life, and the health of a society. Projecting our own views onto everyone is something we all do to a certain degree. After all, if I am convinced that something is right, true, and perfect, then shouldn’t I expect everyone to believe the same way? Perfectly natural thing to do, and, in my opinion, perfectly wrong to do. I try to leave well enough alone, except for those times, and for things which I feel strongly enough about, to NOT leave well enough alone. Yes, I am imperfectly/perfectly human too!…

In other news, the power went off this morning, for about one hour. This happens sometimes when the power company is saving up energy for the peak usage hours to come. They usually try to rotate the areas which are blacked out for a short time, so that all suffer equally. My concern is this – if they are stealing (OK, borrowing) power this early in the season, where our use of air conditioning is light, then what is going to happen in a couple of months when the really heavy usage occurs? Just a thought currently coming to my mind. These dire-y (diary, for the really slow among you, (insert Smiley face)) blogs are more of less “stream of consciousness”, or, in other words, whatever happens to come to my mind, A scary thought, eh? Well, enough of my drivel for now. Peace!

My Dire-y Blog 04/15/2015, H&R Block vs. TaxACT

You know, I’ve seen a lot of blogs that are just people sharing their daily struggles and accomplishments with whoever is bored enough to read them. I have no idea why anyone would want to read anything about MY life! It is a really boring thing to tell. But maybe, it might be good for me to occasionally get some of my personal life, thoughts, and events down in writing. They say it helps. Who “they” are, and “what” it helps, I’m not that clear on. But anyway, every now and then, as a sort of therapy for me, and possibly to produce something slightly amusing or possibly helpful to someone out there, I will try to include occasional episodes of My “Dire-y” Blog. 8*)

Yesterday, I did my IRS/Gov’t-induced duty and completed my federal and state income tax forms. I always try to do it completely for free, but this not this year. I guess the tax help providers are getting wise to my strategy, and are steadily reducing what they offer to the public for free. The past few years I have been using H&R Block online to complete, and submit my federal form for free. Well, last year I got this little check for $22.30 for the sale of 2 shares of stock. This was probably from some past work “retirement” plan, but I’m not exactly sure (meaning I don’t recall at the moment. It is strange how the mind can just suddenly go blank about the strangest things, and at the strangest times. Just don’t get old, like me!) which job it was from. Now because of this piddling little check, I had to use some “part B” capital gains something or another tax form. Well, H&R Block popped up on the screen with something like, “ya, sure, we would love to do that for you, but it’s gonna cost ya”.

I really did not like that, since I had painstakingly entered most of the information for the federal form already, and automatically pulled in my information from last year’s income tax form, which H&R Block kindly stores for me from year to year…for free…’till now.

So, I did a little comparison research (Google, that is), and decided to try TaxACT online, for the first time. It ended up that I chose to pay a little for this years’ service, but I could have gotten away with doing the federal form for free. In the past, I had simply declined to pay H&R Block to do the Ohio State income tax form, and went to the state’s free e-file site for that. Anyway, they made me a combined offer for pulling in last year’s data (Hmmm, they never charged me for that before), and the Ohio state taxes for $39.99 (Jeez, I hate this stupid marketing crap where they think I can’t tell that $39.99 is really $40, and that I will think that $39.99 is a lot cheaper than $40. This crap has gone on for a LONG time now, and only makes head calculation slightly harder, and makes my head hurt, but I am not fooled, it’s still $40 to me!). The deal with TaxACT was – free for federal, but $8.99 if I want them to store it for 3 years, and $19.99 for state. So I went for it. They suckered me into ~$30, instead of the ~$40 I would have paid for H&R Block.

Next year, I should start earlier comparing the cost of the various “free” tax services. I used to use TurboTax on my PC years ago. Now they also have some “free” kind of online tax prep service. Maybe I will check out the cost of their “free” service next year. This year I didn’t want to screw with it, since I procrastinated till almost the last second. I DID get it done 1 day in advance, which is doing good for me! All of the online tax prep services do the same job, at the same level of service, more or less.

You know, I had really been hoping for the day I would no longer have to do tax returns, but no such luck. Now, we are required to file, just to prove we had health insurance, so the IRS can take it out of those who didn’t sign up for the “subsidized” ObamaCare health insurance. Even though I am on a Medicare Supplement plan because I am disabled, I guess I will STILL need to do the damn forms. What a pain! In this age of computers, why don’t “they” just do it automatically for everyone, and save us all the trouble (it is technically doable. The IRS certainly has access to all my financial information online, between my bank, and the SSA). But that would then prevent the corporations, and rich folk’s accountants, from doing all that “fancy” bookkeeping, which allows them to get away with paying a fraction of the percentage of their “income” in taxes that poor folks like me (and maybe you, too) are forced to pay. From recent news, we see that there are politicians that let their opinions about how the country would be better off if they refused medical services to the poor, and let the unproductive (i.e. not producing MONEY) scum die off. Outright, open bigotry and class-ism at its worst. I truly have a hard time believing that there exist politicians with balls big enough, and brains small enough, to “publicly” announce their outright hatred and disregard for other equal human beings. Worse, that there are enough people who buy into that elephant dung to keep such bastards in office. I really can’t believe that some members of our culture are still so barbaric as all that. In reality (at least I hope and pray), it is probably a relatively small number of self-serving and deluded crazies that are stupid enough and arrogant enough to believe and spout that total crap. Unfortunately, they have money and power, so they get away with it. Arg, paperwork…government…politicians…heartless corporations…

Please! Don’t get me started (its all your fault 🙂 ). Well that was yesterday, and today is a new day. Hope you were either amused or were in some way helped by my boring little blog. Have a Blessed day! And please respect every individual, no matter what their beliefs, race, sex, whatever. We, and the entire Universe are Divine, and intimately connected (oooh, that’s a scary thought). Even those slimy, self-serving, pigheaded, arrogant, evil, fascistic, delusional bastard politicians and the twisted political party(ies) to which they give dark homage.  Until next time, folks, Peace.
